It's now 9:35 in the evening, and I am still here at the office. All alone.
I've been working for more than 12hrs, and I'm just being paid to work for 8. Absolutely grrreeaatt! No overtime pay, no thank you in the morning, no nothing. Oh, except that I get to reimburse my dinner (but should not exceed P150), and if I stay here until 10pm, I can reimburse either my cab fare or my gasoline. Reimbursements will come after around 2mos though. Crap. Such heinous working conditions and I have no idea why I'm still here.

Denims won't do
I heard Mass with my family 3 weeks ago here in our Village. One of the coordinators asked my Dad if someone from our family could read the Prayers of the Faithful and he volunteered either me or my Manang. In the end, I was tasked to do it.
The Mass starts at 7am, so I had to wake up at around 6:15am on a Sunday just so I can go to the chapel early and practice reading my part. My family usually sits at the right side of the chapel, while the "podium" is in the other side. My Mom suggested that I sit with them and just go to the other side when it's my turn.
So off to the other side I went right after the Profession of Faith. When I got to the first pew (where the "readers" supposedly sit), the lector was trying to catch my eye and asking me what I was doing there. So I mouthed "Prayers of the Faithful." Then he looked at me from head to toe and shook his head as if in disgust. Why, you may ask? Okay, backtrack.
The day before Sunday, I asked my Mom if I can wear jeans to the Mass even if I'm going to be reading something. I'm a jeans-and-flip-flops kind of girl, and I like wearing comfortable clothes especially when I have to do something I'm not accustomed to, because it would lessen my nervousness. And I do tend to stutter when I speak in front of a crowd so I was really really nervous. My Mom said she thinks it's okay. So what was I wearing during the Mass? A pique polo, jeans, sandals (with heels).
And that, my friends, is the subject of the lector's disgusted look at me.
Back to the Mass. It was now time for the Prayers of the Faithful. I took a half-step towards the podium, but the lector stayed where he was, and I could tell he was already about to start reading the Prayers. Finally, with a reluctant sigh, he dropped the mic and gave the go-signal to me.
The whole incident probably lasted just around 2-3mins tops, but it seemed like forever. I can still see his disgusted look vividly up till now.
I was embarassed for a lot of reasons - and to think this happened in a place where everyone should feel welcome, where everyone is family, where everyone is treated as equals.
First of all, it was obvious that I just went to the other side of the chapel for the Prayers. After the Prayers, I would have returned to the other side to re-join my family (whether or not the lector agreed to let me read). So if he had continued reading the Prayers, I would have looked stupid. Well, his blatant hesitation to give me the mic was embarassment enough.
Second, what is wrong with what I was wearing?!? No part of my body was showing, except for my lower arms, my toenails, and my face. It was honest-to-goodness decent. Do you have to be dressed to the nines just to read His word? When did serving God become so superficial? Okay, I personally draw the line at uber-mini skirts, backless tops, plunging necklines, shorts, etc (just because it distracts other church-goers, especially the *ahem* boys), but never did it cross my mind that jeans were a no-no. And maybe, just maybe, if I had worn my flip-flops, I would've understood his reaction.
Third, I woke up earlier than usual just so I can do my task "well." Isn't the thought and the effort that went to it enough? Seriously. Would God turn His back on me just because I wasn't wearing a terno or a suit or maybe because my hair wasn't coiffed enough or because I was not wearing lipstick? Do I have to look like I'm dressed for a gala just to serve Him? I honestly thought religious servitude went beyond that.
I am not against people in our chapel who do the Readings who look like they woke up at 5am just to pick the "right" outfit. It just escapes me why somebody who wants to be a bigger part of the celebration is rejected just because he/she's not dressed like a 45-yr-old granddad/grandma.
Oh, the coordinator apologized after the Mass, saying it was her fault because she didn't inform my Dad that jeans were "bawal." The damage was already done, but I appreciated the gesture all the same. But really, bakit bawal? Is it some rule I can find in the Bible? Or even a Papal letter the community isn't aware of?
Hell, she (the coordinator) was also wearing jeans. And she was part of the choir. So maybe she should not be there too?

FRIENDS
I can't seem to find any FRIENDS VCDs anymore, the ones in individual packs =( Damn. Sabi ko na nga ba at dapat binili ko na lahat ng kulang ko dati pa. I even have this checklist in my small notebook that I always bring - napadpad na akong Mall of Asia (they have this BIG AstroPlus store!), wala pa rin.
If anyone sees any of these discs, please let me know =)
- Season 1 Vol 1
- Season 1 Vol 2
- Season 1 Vol 5
- Season 2 Vol 1
- Season 2 Vol 3
I spoke too soon! I was able to find these 2 discs at AstroVision in Festival Mall! Yey! But I also confirmed that they don't deliver stocks of individual discs anymore =( If worse comes to worst, I'll just have to buy the boxed set of Season 1.
- Season 3 Vol 6
- Season 9 Vol 3 - I know I have this but I prolly misplaced it.
And no, ayaw ko bumili ng DVD or VCD set kasi sayang naman yung iba kong VCDs =(

first impressions
My friends and I thought it would be fun to enumerate our first impressions towards each other. It's funny how some impressions usually end up wrong and how some people whom you thought you wouldn't really get along with turn out to be greatest people you can meet.
For anonymity, I won't post my friends' names =) (hahaha) =)
- high maintenance(!), elitist, aloof, fashionistang elitista, tahimik, suplada, supladang fashionistang elitista - kung hindi ko lang alam na UP grad ka, I would've thought that you're from DLSU *, may sariling "crowd"
* just the classic stereotype =) No harm meant.
I don't know if I should be offended or not =) At first, I was a bit taken aback but then I thought it's the same old first impressions I usually get (i.e. mataray, suplada, at kung anu-ano pang synonyms diyan) so why was I even surprised? I'm just wondering if at first glance, is it how everyone assesses me? Do I really scare people off?
I treasure my friends' honesty, and it also feels nice that I was (hopefully!) able to prove them wrong. To somehow cushion their tough blows (hahaha), they also wrote what surprised them about me.
- jologs (hahaha! hindi naman masyado, basta hindi high maintenance :)), open minded, very accommodating, fashionistang jologs, thoughtful, sensitive, and sometimes surprises me with her views, at nakakatakot pag nagalit!, nakakatakot kapag tahimik - mahilig kumain ng kung ano-ano tuwing umaga - certainly not a morning person - kikay 1 - smart - mas "cowboy" pa ata sa akin hahaha!
In the end, wouldn't you prefer to start on the wrong foot and become good friends rather than the other way around? I know I would.
P.S.
So I guess I still am masungit! Haha =) I guess that's just the way I am. Took after my dad, ya know =)

my never-ending story
It's always like this every single month. I can take physical pain and fatigue, but this is too much. Reports right and left, incessant follow-ups (and these are like 5-10 minutes in between), deadlines around the corner, supervisor/s breathing down your neck - when will it stop? Or maybe the question is, will it ever stop?
Weekdays seem to last forever, while my precious weekends flash by as if mocking me. I find it such a chore to get up each morning and go to work. Is it enough reason, is it that big of a push for me to leave?

-medyo malabong survey-
Erm, orange is Ma'am Jela, green is Jen, blue is Mark. I'm the violet ones =)
Instructions. Leave your name and:
1. I'll respond with something random about you.
~ I like the color of your new MP3 player! =) I like it too!! =D
~ Kikay..
~ You're a picky eater. Not that it's bad cos I'm more maarte when it comes to food =) I just don't eat veggies, that's all.
2. I'll challenge you to try something.
~ Eat veggies. =) I will, in a year or two probably. Pero kumakain naman ako ng ibang veggies, just not the green leafy ones.
~ Say hi to Bob Who in the world is Bob?! Hahahaa =) Pass ako sa challenge niyo na ito, I'd rather pretend he doesn't exist.
~ Make a testimonial for Bob - same - Plus I think I already deleted my previous testimonials to him.
3. I'll pick a color that I associate with you.
~ Purple - color of royalty. Looove purple!
~ Pink - sweet.. =)
~ Yellow Mark, bakit yellow?
4. I'll tell you something I like about you.
~ An honest and loyal friend; you go the extra mile for the people you care for.
~ Honest. I really appreciate honesty in a person
~ Nice to converse with, when you're not frowning, or prolly after 10 am that is Ummm, sorry Mark, seatmate kasi kita eh, ikaw napagbubuntungan ko =D Just e-mail me kung may sasabihin ka before 10am =) Hahaha =)
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
~ Quiet, but still have a strong presence (kasi mukhang elitista? =D) Elitista dahil mukha akong snob? =( I am far from being an "elitista," as you guys know, jologs na jologs nga eh.

7. I'll ask you something I've always wanted to ask you.
~ If a tree falls down in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound? (okay, so hindi ko talaga sinunod yung instruction! but I want to hear your answer on this pseudo-philosophical question!) I think it does make a sound. It's just that no one's around to hear it. If you apply it to something a bit more profound, like, if a person talks and you don't listen, did she really talk? I believe yes. And that's where the difference between listening and hearing lies. I didn't answer your question, did I? =) Hehe =)
~ If given a change to re-live your life, would you change any part of it? I think I've mentioned it somewhere - I had a very very happy childhood. So of course I wouldn't change that. The most depressing period of my life siguro was back in 3rd or 4th yr College. I still wouldn't change that part, because it made me realize a lot of things, realized the worth of a person in my life, and it has paved the way for me (/us) to be happier today.
~ What do little birdies see when they get knocked unconscious? I told you hindi ka makakakuha sa'kin ng philosophical na sagot - I guess little birdies see cartoon-like stars going 'round and 'round on top of their heads =D Wala na akong ibang maisip at ayaw ko na mag-isip!
8. If I do this for you, you must in turn post this meme (??) on your blog.
~ please post this on your blog with your comments on my answers and your answer on the next question. =) Done =) Please enlighten me what "meme" means.
9. With a letter I assign to you, you must write ten things you like that begin with that letter :)
~ G
- God
- goals
- Goo Goo Dolls
- Globe Telecom
- gifts
- guitars (when Dong's playing)
- green
- giggles (umm, not Bob-like giggles *evil grin*)
- get-togethers

- rainbows
- reunions
- relationships (with God, with my family, with my friends, with Dong)

to slimpretty(eek!)girl
This was a blog entry by someone presumably addressed to a friend of mine.
--
It's over. He's gone.
Why do we have to part while the love is still there? Why do we have to suffer? Why do beginnings have an end? Why do we have to meet only to lose in the end?
There are questions left unanswered, words left unsaid, letters left unread, poems left undone, songs left unsung, love left unexpressed, and promises left unfulfilled.
In a relationship, one of the hardest things to do is saying goodbye and letting go. It is hard as breaking a crystal because you'll never know when you will be able to pick up the pieces again. More often than not, they who go, feel not the pain of parting; it is they who stay behind that suffer, because they are left with memories of a love that was meant to be, a love that was.
At the beginning and at the end of a relationship, we are embarrassed to find ourselves alone. Unfair as it may seem, but that's the way love goes. That's the drama, the bitter sweet and the risk of falling in love. After all, nothing is constant but change. Everything will eventually come to its end without us knowing when, without us knowing how, without us even knowing why. And we must forget not because we want to but because we have to.
In letting go, sorrows come not as a single spy, but in battalion. It seems that everywhere you go, everything you do, every song you hear, every turn of your heart, every blink of your eye and every breath you take always reminds you of him. It's like a stab of a knife, a torture in the night. Funny how the whole world becomes depopulated when only one person is missing. Just imagine, there are four billion people or more on earth and yet it seems you feel lonely and empty without the other.
I don't know if it's worth calling an art, but letting go entails letting special skills to sparkle with a considerable space and time. Time heals all wounds but it takes a little push on our part. Acceptance plays a part. Not all wishes come true. Nor all love stories and with "and they lived happily ever after."
Sometimes we have to part because of circumstances beyond our control. We have to suffer if it would mean happiness for others. we have to cry to temporarily let go of pains. Every beginning has its end like every dawn has its dusk. It's something we can't control, something we have to live up.
It's over. He's gone.
Life has to go on, girl.....
"Sorry. He's very happy now and contented with his life, carreer and family right now. I don't know for how long we can keep it that way but as family we have to, for love, trust and marriage are the very strong foundation of happiness, and believe me, we have it all... Goodluck. I know there's someone out there who can love you more than enough to be happy and free from misery."
---
You just can’t stop at stealing boyfriends, can you? Let me spell it for you – had you not gotten yourself pregnant, you may not have written this in the first place and you probably won’t have a freakin’ wedding ring on your stupid little finger. Okay, I won’t put all the blame on you since it takes “two to tango” (since you’re such a fan of passe cliches, you may want to keep the phrase for future use), but your recent actions leave a bad taste in my mouth. And since my friend is too nice to malign you (even though you so rightfully deserve it), let me (or us) avenge for her.
Why do we have to part while the love is still there? That is such a good question. You’ve got to be kidding me if you don’t know the answer to this – you’re the living proof! And you just admitted that the love was still there when you entered the picture. How gallant of you. A tad too late to be the hero, don’t you think?
At the beginning and at the end of a relationship, we are embarrassed to find ourselves alone. Speak for yourself. Only people with no sense of self-worth and fullfillment will be embarassed. And placing your comment in context, ang kapal ng mukha mo. Are you actually implying that my friend is embarassed? She's actually the one who's embarassed after what happened? Why should she be?! Shouldn't that sentence read: we should feel embarassed when we're already committed but still go on hitting someone who's, funnily enough, also committed. Ring a bell?
And to hopefully end your speculations, she is happy. She doesn't have to convince you of that nor is it your right to second-guess if she really is.
Just imagine, there are four billion people or more on earth and yet it seems you feel lonely and empty without the other. Yeah, there are 4B people on earth yet you went after a guy who’s already taken. Makes sense to me.
And, girl, reading your last paragraph makes me want to chop your head off. 3.99B people doesn’t seem so bad, right? Especially if the one who left is an unworthy piece of shit.
...love, trust and marriage are the very strong foundation of happiness, and believe me, we have it all. How funny you mentioned trust. Isn’t it that when you first entered that relationship of yours, it was completely devoid of trust? Isn’t it that the underlying premise of your relationship was the lack of trust? How can you be so sure that Mr. Nice-Husband-of-Yours won’t do to you what he did to my friend? Isn’t there a saying that if a guy cheated for you, he’ll most likely cheat on you? Ang tigas talaga ng ulo mo eh noh.
Sounds to me like you’re convincing yourself that you have a perfect family right there. Makes me all the more certain that the Ghost of Summer Past is still haunting you. Is it extremely difficult to live day after day knowing that you just stole the person you’re with? Is it difficult to lie in bed at night and look at your husband and wonder if it’s your face he thinks off right before he closes his eyes? Is it difficult to accept that maybe, just maybe, your story won’t end “happily ever after” too? Is it? I hope to God it is. I hope your conscience (You probably have one tucked in the innermost corner of your being. Try using it from time to time.) bothers you until you cease to be the slimprettygirl you so desperately want to believe.
