This is a post by one of Jai's sisters. I keep thinking about the subject of her post and what my answer to it is.
I'm still fumbling for that answer. Or maybe I'm just too jaded right now. Anyway :)

Who taught you to love?
Princess Jainal (07/02/2008)
So many things have been said about what love is and what it is not. But the only way to really know what it is all about and what it is not is by experiencing it. Romantic, platonic, fatherly, motherly, true, first, only… So many kinds, yet one universal thing—LOVE. We experience it from different people—our parents, siblings, friends, and lovers—but there will be that one person who will mold us on our first and lasting impressions and conceptions of love. This first lesson in love, so indelible, will determine the way we love the people who will enter and leave our lives—whether or not they stay to reciprocate or go away leaving us with scars.
Who taught you to love?
My first lessons in love came in the form of the constant attention, and the genuine concern of my father—in his protective gaze, his gentle and warm embrace, his longing voice, and his naïve attachment—pure, sincere, forgiving, and unconditional.
As a child, I was taught, and I would innocently sing a long with the song, “Nothing’s gonna change my love for you.” The picture still vividly embedded in my memory—Pah driving our antique owner-type jeep would start off the first few lines, and end up with a choir of squeaky voices from each of his little darlings singing along with him. We would do this everytime: on the ride to and from school, to the market, to the shop (because our antique jeep constantly needed something fixed), to our cousins, to the boulevard of Zamboanga’s “acclaimed” scrumptious orange-colored barbeques, or even for just a ride around the city. We would sing our hearts and lungs out until we’ve learned the song by heart. We carefully and naively sung each of the words of the beautiful lyric, not knowing, that the same lyrics will tell the story of the way we love, and will be resonate in each of our encounters of love from then on.
If I had to live my life without you near me
The days would all be empty
The nights would seem so long
With you I see forever oh so clearly
I might have been in love before
But it never felt this strong
Our dreams are young and we both know
They'll take us where we want to go
Hold me now
Touch me now
I don't want to live without you
Nothing's gonna change my love for you
You ought to know by now how much I love you
One thing you can be sure of
I'll never ask for more than your love
Nothing's gonna change my love for you
You ought to know by now how much I love you
If the road ahead is not so easy
Our love will lead the way for us
Like a guiding star
I'll be there for you if you should need me
You don't have to change a thing
I love you just the way you are
So come with me and share the view
I'll help you see forever too
Hold me now
Touch me now
I don't want to live without you
